The Gene Bates
designed golf course offers two different, yet similar golf courses. The Gold
Course is the true tester of golf at almost 7600 yards, this is a championship
golf course with a demanding layout. Holes a very well bunkered, and quite a few
forced carries make you bring your "A" game to the Gold Course at Soldier
Hollow. Sparkling white- sand bunkers pepper the layout and frame the routing nicely, and
the entire course offers a good mix of long par 5's, go-for-it par
4's and memorable par 3's.
The facility opened July 1st 2004 and is the newest addition to the Wasatch
Mountain State Park golf collection, now offering a total of 96 holes of golf. The championship, 36-hole facility completes the year-round
recreation programs at the 2002 Olympic and Paralympics Winter Games venue.
Two
18-hole courses aptly named the Gold and Silver courses - offer
challenging play and amazing views of the Heber
Valley and majestic Mount Timpanogos. Gene Bates Golf Design won the "2004
Golf Architect of the Year" award partly because of this golf course, and provided the
well designed and unique layout, which is one of the longest courses in the state
and has the originality of being the only golf course built on an Olympic venue.
