The Gene Bates
designed 36-hole facility offers two different, yet similar golf courses. The
Silver
Course is much more tame at 3335 yards, and offers a fun and less demanding
layout. Less forced carries, and mostly flat playing surfaces have actually
become perhaps the favorite course at Soldier Hollow. While its no pushover, the
Silver course is a wonderful routing, a good mix of holes just like the other
course, and it is a walk a-able layout as well.
The facility opened July 1st 2004 and is the newest addition to the Wasatch
Mountain State Park golf collection, now offering a total of 96 holes of golf. The championship, 36-hole facility completes the year-round
recreation programs at the 2002 Olympic and Paralympics Winter Games venue.
Two
18-hole courses aptly named the Gold and Silver courses - offer
challenging play and amazing views of the Heber
Valley and majestic Mount Timpanogos. Gene Bates Golf Design won the "2004
Golf Architect of the Year" award partly because of this golf course, and provided the
well designed and unique layout, which is one of the longest courses in the state
and has the originality of being the only golf course built on an Olympic venue.
