Pete Dye, one of the most influential and creative golf course designers in the recent history, masterminded the Pete Dye Canyon Golf Course at Promontory. Heavily influenced by the rumpled fairways and deep pot bunkers of Scotland, Pete Dye is a pure artist who is able to sculpt dirt into incredible landforms, and create beautiful yet often maddening golf holes.

The Dye Canyon Course stretches to 7,700 yards from the tips, which is way more length than most mortals can handle, but play this one from an acceptable yardage and you will be grinning from ear to ear.

Although a Dye course demands skilled shot making and an intellectual approach to the game to play his courses well, the course at Promontory is quite playable and very forgiving with bounces favoring shots back into fairways.

We enjoy the Dye course every time we play it, it’s just plain fun, and the conditions in late summer are spectacular.

The Painted Valley Course is the sister course to the Pete Dye Canyon Course, and is the second of up to five planned championship golf courses to be completed at Promontory, a 10-square mile private, family-friendly, luxury community.
