What the ranking doesn't tell you is how it plays. From the back tees it's all the course you'd want and then some. Move up a set and it loosens into something genuinely enjoyable — ample landing areas, the trouble visible and defined, risk-reward routes you can actually see and choose. Fazio does the quiet things well: bunkering that earns its keep and delivers the signature eye-candy, no filler holes padding the card. The greens are where it bites, though — miss in the wrong spot and the speed and the slope leave you a hard save. Solid golf, start to finish.
What Stands Out
The detail that stays with you is the walk. Tees sit close to the previous green, both nines return to the clubhouse, and with a caddie it's a four-hour round on foot without feeling rushed. For a course this highly rated, that ease of movement is rarer than it should be.
