About Homestead Golf Course in Midway, Utah
Closed for renovation. Homestead is being rebuilt from the ground up by John Fought, who is reworking every green, fairway, bunker and tee of the original Bruce Summerhays layout. It reopens in 2027 as a semi-private course, with a new double green shared by the 9th and 18th. Everything below describes the course as it played before the work started, and will be updated once it is back open.
Homestead sits against the Wasatch in the small farming town of Midway, an enjoyable resort course about 20 minutes from Park City. Bruce Summerhays, a Senior PGA Tour pro, built a playable 18 with minimal forced carries — but enough back-tee length to challenge better players.
The front nine is the mountain side, with long views of the Heber Valley; the back nine runs the river bottoms of the Snake Creek Valley, a different look entirely, with creeks and lakes pulling into strategic play. A recent ownership change brought a small renovation to the 9 and 18 green complexes — a new waterfall and a lake now in play on the closing holes of each nine — and the new owners have kept the conditioning sharp.
What Stands Out
Homestead is a classic, enjoyable resort round — beautiful mountain golf on the front, strategic river-bottom holes on the back, and conditioning the new ownership clearly cares about. Lodging is on site at the Homestead Resort.
